"Great room, incredible breakfast, hospitable hostess."

"We went here for our 3rd anniversary. The room was very nice - hot shower, whirlpool tub, fireplace, wifi, DVD player - everything you might need. There is even a 24 hour grocery nearby. The hostess was very helpful in recommending places to go, and even keeps a list of nearby restaurants, events, and schedules. The breakfast was fantastic, and brought to our door each morning. We were so full from breakfast, we didn't eat lunch one day of our stay. We would definitely recommend this B&B."

The Leathem Suite

This handsome, 2-room suite is distinguished by gorgeous oak floors, 12- foot ceilings with plaster cast medallions, a crystal chandelier and crown moldings. A stately 4-poster bed is the centerpiece of the bedroom, but the deep bay window seat plays a strong supporting role. Relax in the living room area in front of your wood-burning fireplace, enjoy the double whirlpool tub and don’t forget to spend some time out on the magnificent front porch. As a matter of fact, why not have your breakfast out there?

As you enter this elegant blue-toned 2-room suite, you are greeted by a lace-festooned 4-poster canopy bed with a garden view and the double sided gas fireplace. Romantic charm continues in the living area with a large sitting area, breakfast table in a big bay window, a hopelessly out of tune upright piano and a double whirlpool. Add the access to the big front porch to your living space and it’s easy to see why this suite is so popular.

Cream, beige and green adorn this west-facing suite. The double whirlpool is nestled into a set of bay windows with a big maple tree right outside. Watch the sunset from your shared balcony or curl up with a good read in your sitting area. Hardwood floors and a vintage fireplace further help to make this our most requested suite.

Enjoy your delicious breakfast at the oak café table. If you are traveling with another couple, you may want to arrange for them to have the Quiet Rose Room, right across the private hall.

Door County products and services are featured wherever possible – which helps further minimize our environmental footprint and introduces our guests to some special Door County goods & services.

In winter, activities abound….. snow-shoeing, cross country skiing, ice fishing & snowmobiling are just a few. The whole county is really just a small town (pop. 30,000) so we all pretty much know each other. Let me know if I can help you arrange for any of those fun ways to spend time together.

Special events are planned for winter as well. Ask about the upcoming events when you email or call. Just a few…. A few different kinds of Trolley Tours, Fish Creek’s Winter Fest and the Speakers Series at the Door County Maritime Museum.

Amethyst & Quiet Rose rooms do not have private entrances or whirlpools, but do have all other amenities listed above.

Full homemade breakfasts
Delivered to your room each morning between 8 and 9 am. Bountiful breakfast menus change with the seasons and the whim of the innkeeper. Local produce, meats, juice and coffee keep your entrée company. Muffins, rolls, coffeecakes and such are all baked in our kitchen, using the finest ingredients.
We will gladly work with your special requests.

Weekends are Friday, Saturday and some holidays
Weeknights are Sunday through Thursday
The entire building is smoke-free, but you may smoke outside in designated areas
Half block stroll to the historic downtown district
As an adult retreat, Colonial Gardens Bed & Breakfast is not suited to children under 12
$35 additional person, per night in rooms with pull-out couches

Driving instructions
As you enter the city limits of Sturgeon Bay along Wisconsin State Highway 42/57, you’ll have the opportunity to take Business Route 42/57 just after the Walgreen’s intersection.
• Take Business 42/57 exit to the stop light. Turn right.
• Cross the bridge…. Get ready to take a left at the foot of that bridge. That’s 1st Ave.
• Take 1st Ave about 5 blocks to where it meets 3rd Ave. Sounds crazy, but it does.
• Take a right on 3rd Ave. Colonial Gardens is the big white house with the picket fence, about 4 doors down on the left.
 -OR-
• Take 42/57 Bypass bridge across the Bay of Sturgeon Bay.
• Turn left onto Cty. TT (Michigan St.)
• Continue on Michigan St. and then turn right onto 4th Ave (Business 42/57).
• Turn left onto Jefferson St. then right onto North Third Ave.
Colonial Gardens B&B would be located on the right-hand side (east) of North Third Ave.
 

Deposits
One nights’ deposit is required to secure your reservation.
Guests will be responsible for full payment upon arrival.
No refund for unused days due to late arrivals or early departures.
We accept payment by MasterCard, Visa, Discover, personal checks and even cash (!)
Deposits made with personal check or money order must be received within 7 days after making reservation.
Service animals are welcome, but sorry no pets.

Cancellations
A $15 per night cancellation fee is charged for all cancellations.
Your deposit will be refunded if we are notified 21 days before your expected arrival date.
If a last minute cancellation is necessary and the room is re-booked, your deposit will be refunded.
If a last minute cancellation is necessary and the room is not re-booked, you are responsible for full payment on all nights reserved.
